PROUD OF LIFE

I’m ever so proud of my wife,

Thou her voice cuts like a knife;

She cooks my food,

Makes me feel good,

Puts lots of spice in my life;

I’m ever so proud of my wife.

I’m ever so proud of my kids

They no longer do, what I bids;

I treasure their health,

I give them my wealth,

Wouldn’t be without them for quids;

I’m ever so proud of my kids.

I’m ever so proud of my daughter,

She knows more than I taught her;

Whenever I need backing,

She never is lacking;

Always there whenever I sought her;

I’m ever so proud of my daughter.

I’m ever so proud of my friends,

Their loyalty to me never ends;

They help me to grin,

When the money gets thin,

And all of my living, I spends;

I’m ever so proud of my friends.

I’m ever so proud of my life,

I’ve had my share of strife;

In most things I failed,

But its little I ailed;

With 5 gorgeous kids and a wife;

I’m ever so proud of my life.

THE AIR HOSTESS

She rides the skies,

On Jumbo wings;

With speed she flies,

And has her flings;

But best of all,

With food well fed,

She has a Ball,

In bed with Ned.

In foreign lands,

There is a nest;

On foreign sands,

A place to rest;

But for all this,

She loves instead;

To cuddle and kiss,

In bed with Ned.

The plane flies high,

She thinks of love;

Across the sky,

Her trust to prove;

To conquer strife,

New thoughts are bred;

She loves her life,

In bed with Ned.

From fashion shows,

To cute Bazaars;

At night she goes,

Among the stars;

But thoughts agree,

Within her head,

She’d rather be, I

n bed with Ned.

COMMON LAW

Long, long ago, or so ‘tis wrote,

Common folk had little or naught;

But had rights to share a goose,

From Common Land for common use.

Common folks had rights to go,

On Common land by Common law,

To graze a cow or other stock,

Graze a horse, or graze a flock.

A Common Lord if so intent,

Kept birds, by common consent,

When meant for the common good,

To keep the needy, with some food.

Sharing the food; the Lord there,

Did always grab, the biggest share;

As with things, they did decide,

He’d always want; the best divide.

Now the world has changed a lot,

But Common Lords, I fear, have not;

Glorious birds, crown common ways,

Shootings; are sold to millionaires.

The cash comes in by the ton,

Into the millions each year won;

In things well done, done by stealth,

Guess whose hand receives the wealth?

LORD OF THE MANOR

Lord of the Manor, lives in state,

With 4 homes, or maybe more;

With great wealth and more of late;

The needs of others he’ll ignore,

A life of luxury he has led,

Upon his waste, others could be fed.

Lands, intended for common good,

He now claims as his domain;

Seldom used as they should,

Too oft he lives for selfish gain;

But when at last he comes to die,

He’ll look no better than do I.

THE FOOLS WE ARE

Politicians come with ideas,

Exploit our fears,

Drive in big cars,

Get us to vote,

Treat us like naught;

What fools we are.

We put them in power,

Over us to tower,

With them as the star;

Live on our cash,

Treat us like trash;

What fools we are.

AN ANCIENT CURE

When King David was getting old,

His body suffered from the cold;

Ancient Doctors sent to his home,

A pretty girl to keep him warm!

Now! Three thousand years later,

Medical science is much greater;

And we believe as science grows,

It will cure all our woes.

But, when my body gets real old,

When I start to suffer the cold;

When life becomes hard to endure,

I’d much prefer King David’s cure.

PEACE

Lasting peace is a wonderland,

That lies beneath the thickened mist;

They that would within it stand,

Must first unclench the knuckled fist.

Powers of peace come with pride,

To all the world, however wide

By building the towers that unite,

And bridging the rivers that divide.

THE MILLIONAIRE

Got his wealth, just by luck,

Picked him up from the muck;

Now inside a Mansion found,

With more rooms than he can count.

With great authority to flout,

He believes it gives him clout;

Six gleaming cars, brightly shone,

When he can only ride in one.

He has servants by the score,

But still thinks he needs more;

Powerful locks protect his wealth,

But can’t guard his failing health.

He can keep his wealth for me,

Let him flout it for all to see;

They that live to great excess,

Do themselves alone impress.

A MILLION STAR HOTEL

The ground is soft,

The breezes warm;

With stars aloft,

In my new home.

Flowers on the ground,

Birds in the air;

Fresh wonders abound,

With never a care.

Streams with laughter,

Flow to the sea;

Nature looks after,

A wander like me.

I care not for money,

Or big fancy cars,

While I feast on honey,

Beneath countless stars.

With carpets of green,

Sweet perfumes to smell;

No better can be seen,

Than my favourite Hotel.

THE QUEEN OF PRETEND

The Queen is a figurehead,

Following an ancient trend;

But her rule, it is said,

Is a game of, ‘Let’s Pretend.’

Lords and Ladies go on show,

Dukedoms: their customs do defend;

Servants curtsy, Servants bow,

In the game of, ‘Let’s Pretend.’

Prince and Princess, ever strut

Try their lot to comprehend;

They must all have their cut,

In the world of, ‘Let’s Pretend.’

Mighty Palaces stand on show,

Costing a fortune to extend;

They must have a home to go.

In the world of, ‘Let’s Pretend.’

Vast imaginary is their rule,

Where posh society must blend;

Clever; they that act the fool, I

n the world of, ‘Let’s Pretend.’

Governments come, Governments go,

But the Monarch can know no end;

Life depends on how they’re born,

In the world of, ‘Let’s Pretend.’

SHEEPS CHEESE

Sheep’s cheese is very nice,

But the cost, rather high;

You’d not wonder, why the price,

If to milk a sheep, you’d try?

 BEHIND BRITAIN’S SHORES

Behind Britain’s grey and rocky shores,

Sleeps a giant as she snores;

A powerful heart inside her breast,

A powerful hand, full of zest,

A happy mind, full of jest,

Let no one her might ignore.

Behind Britain’s grey and rocky shores,

Sleeps a giant with massive claws;

There’s great might at her behest,

Powerful emotions inside her chest,

It is best to let her rest;

Never belittle her powerful paws.

Behind Britain’s grey and rocky shores,

There sleeps the giant, I adores;

Once proud Mistress in the world,

Still her strength can be unfurled,

But her patience never dulled,

With a will that has no flaws;

Behind Britain’s grey and rocky shores.

SIXTY WIVES

Upon a farm,

The working ram,

Has for his lot,

To propagate life,

And has just got,

Sixty wives.

His passions boil,

He loves the toil,

Must do his bit,

Among the grasses,

And score a hit,

With 60 lasses.

He wears a grin,

All set to win

With his new mates,

His heart on fire,

With no alarms;

He needs to sire,

Over 100 lambs.

With wives enough,

His life is tough,

Always on call;

Always on the hop,

But with no one at all,

Would he ever swap.

A DAY FOR GOD

Six days for work

One day for rest,

It was Moses said,

‘That way is best,’

That, we for wealth,

Cease to scheme,

And for one day,

Hold God supreme.

Six days for us,

For God, just one,

Six days of stress,

For one day gone;

One day for church

To show we care,

And there enjoy

God’s love to share.

Six days for work,

To till the land,

Grow some crops,

And more expand;

One day for God,

All set apart,

To lift the spirit,

And warm the heart.

Six days for self,

Can it be odd?

That we begrudge

One day for God;

To rest from toil,

To take a break

And true to God,

That one day make.

HOUSE OF LORDS

For little effort,

The place is good,

To rest in comfort,

Or eat good food.

No need to speak,

They pay their Graces,

That day of the week,

They show their faces.

They know what to do,

In a credit crunch;

Work one ‘til two,

With an hour for lunch

Money comes in hoards,

Getting paid is a doddle,

Into the House of Lords,

They toddle.
