Chapter One

My heart sank when my cousin asked me to look after her dog for a few days. I am definitely not a doggy person. I looked at my relative's appealing face knowing I was going to give in. Rebecca had that effect on me. The girl stood on tiptoe and kissed me on the cheek. Her auburn hair bounced and blue eyes sparkled as she awaited my reaction. I groaned inwardly for the hundredth time, "If only she wasn't my cousin"…

I protested, "You must be joking, I don't know anything about dogs, especially a brute like Jan."

Jan was a very large Alsatian bitch who, in previous visits knocked things over in my house, slobbered, left hair everywhere and when I once took her for a walk, nearly pulled my arm out of it's socket. She had humiliated me, by leaving a gift on my neighbours front lawn, he had been understanding and helped me clean it up, but I felt dreadful. As I say, I am definitely not a doggy person. The blue eyes continued to hold me as she whispered, "My best friend's father has died, I have to be with her, Oh be a darling and please look after her, it's only for two days." I watched the full lips lasciviously and firmly pushed carnal thoughts away. I felt my resolve weakening, "What about kennels?" Rebecca started, eyes clouding as though I had suggested a death sentence, she stepped back and shook her head emphatically, the hair bounced and sparkled, "I couldn't do that again, last time she sulked for a week afterwards and I'm sure they didn't feed her properly. Anyway, now you've got that lovely bungalow, with those absolutely super woods behind, you can take her for a walks and things... Oh Brad please..."
