CONVERSATIONS WITH HITLER AND STALIN

 by

Ayad Gharbawi

Introduction

X: “I would like to begin this evening by saying a few words on the conversations we will be having with the Chancellor of Germany, the Fuehrer and Reichskanzler of National Socialist Germany, during the years 1933-1945, Adolf Hitler, and with the First General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union’s Central Committee, who served during 1929-1953, Generalissimo Joseph Stalin.

“It is a unique opportunity to be given to interview these two great figures in our modern history for many reasons. One reason, being due to the fact that they themselves rarely gave any interviews, and the few that they did grant were not quite as forthcoming or informative as one would have liked them to be.

“We are here being afforded this opportunity to ask them any question we want and without any preconditions or restrictions whatsoever.

“I hope that through these conversations we will be able to get a clearer understanding on these two men; what made them such fanatical, ruthless, unswerving believers in their apparently mutually opposing ideologies, and why they devoted their entire lives for the cause and propagation of their beliefs.

“With respect to their crimes, I will ask them pointedly why they felt it was so utterly necessary and existentially vital for them to undertake gigantic programmes, with meticulous planning and whose sole purpose was to execute millions of innocent human beings men, women and children.
“I hope that we may understand further what makes men like Hitler and Stalin think as they do; what sets them apart from the rest of humanity, since men of the standard like Hitler and Stalin, come and go once in the lifetime of a century of Man’s history if not less.

“I understand how painful and sensitive the conversations may be for some people. We are dealing with two of the most controversial characters in our modern history. Perhaps more so with Adolf Hitler, the conversations may justifiably cause nausea with some of you here at what that man has to say for himself, and especially for his gross crimes against humanity. However, notwithstanding your revulsion at these characters, we are here to listen, judge and no more. This is not meant to be a trial nor is it a forum for jeers. We are here to have a civilised talk with these two men and yes, I fully understand and feel the paradox in what I am saying, but I answer my critics by saying that, I firmly do believe, that these exercises we are undertaking, must be done if we hope to understand the way the minds of certain human beings function and tick.

“We are talking to a man, Adolf Hitler, who murdered 6,000,000 million Jews because they were born Jewish. Hitler butchered 6,000,000 Poles because they were Polish. Hitler killed a staggering 27,000,000 million Soviet citizens during his war against Russia. The Second World War that he unleashed onto the world caused the deaths of 7,000,000-9,000,000 of his own people.

“We are talking to another man, Joseph Stalin, who killed up to 20,000,000 men, women and children through different methods such as: famine, torture, collectivisation, purges, Gulag Labour Camps, executions and population transfers or the mass deportations of entire nations.

“These numbers are really quite unimaginable for anyone to comprehend with our rational minds. What Hitler and Stalin did is beyond our ability to fully be aware of precisely because they murdered on such a gigantic scale. It is for this reason, perhaps, why it is so difficult for so many of us to fully understand who these men are.

“The importance of these conversations, we hope, is to attempt to understand how men like these seduced millions of fanatical followers and ultimately how men like these were able to easily take absolute control of entire countries in what are, after all, civilised and cultured nations.

“I hope we may learn to be alert for the warning signs for future characters like them, so we can protect ourselves from the emergence of characters like Hitler and Stalin, whose greatest achievements were to unleash the worst apocalypse Mankind had to deal with.

“And so, I would now like to welcome you, ladies and Gentlemen, for tonight’s first conversation with Hitler and Stalin.

    “Thank you.”

   CONVERSATION 1

X: “Herr Hitler, if I may start these conversations with you, why do you think most people still think of you in the negative way they do, and how do you react to the fact that world opinion is so utterly united in their disgust, when it views you?”

Hitler: “I am sufficiently aware, that all over the world, across nations and races, people erroneously consider me to be evil and that is purely because history is recorded by the victors. It is, of course, disinformation.”

X: “Are people brainwashed?”

Hitler: “Destiny demanded that I, a simple former soldier, my German people, my German Fatherland and our National Socialist vision were to be the vanquished. Our enemies, the English, the Americans, the Russians, and that unmatched enemy, International Jewry, did defeat us and it is that set of inhumanity that have been in charge of writing history. So, what are we to expect? Accurate judgements from that rabble? Of course not and I expect nothing. We cannot expect anything worthy of our attention from that criminal class. So it is imperative that you must try to understand wherefrom the literature you read comes from. All information has its birthplace and we question the value of that place. Do you assume all literature is beneficial for our judgment? That would be absurd! So try to study where your knowledge came from and that is essential if you wish to judge the value and quality of the words you have read.”

X: “You didn’t answer my question.”

(Silence)

Hitler: “I didn’t?”

X: “Do you think that world opinion is quite simply a result of the brainwashing by what you consider to be the writings of the victors? Is it as simple as that?”

Hitler: “Do I need to answer that?”

X: “Well, since we are conversing on your legacy.”

Hitler: “The answer is yes, yes. Of course, the masses are completely brainwashed by the spiteful drivel victors spout out. I assumed that was a given. The masses, like sheep, will go where the mature, experienced shepherd will lead them. But ask yourself, Who is this shepherd? The shepherd does not need to be an honest man. So what do you expect? I do not and cannot ever expect any serious, objective judgment on my leadership and on the history of our Third Reich. There can be none as long as the world is still in the hands of the original victors. In that sense, nothing has changed since 1945. The world is still in the hands of the victors of the Second World War and I know that people are unaware of that fact. That is why people’s judgement on us is so utterly incorrect.”

X: “You lost the war that you created and it is rather obvious that victors write the history books. What you are saying is quite self evident.”

Hitler: “We did not start the war. Did we declare war? Do you need reminding as to who declared war on us?”

X: “Britain and France did declare war in response to your aggression against Poland, so please do not pretend that simply because of legal formalities you’re the victim when in reality Germany was the aggressor that needed to be stopped or else anarchy and the law of the jungle would have ruled over Europe.”

Hitler: “Aggression against Poland? Did we not have the eternal right to take back the so-called Polish Corridor? And Britain called our action aggression when she happened to occupy one-fourth of the earth’s land mass in the form of slave-colonies; when the British Empire was the largest in the world; and when the British enslaved one-quarter of the world’s population; in view of these indisputable facts, do you think the British had the right to lecture to us Germans on the subject of aggression? And what about France? France declared war on us because we were the aggressors when they just happened to be in control of 8.7% of the earth’s total land mass!”

(Silence)
