When we walked outside there was a slight chill in the air and small drops of rain had begun to fall, shoot I thought I guess my dad was right.... Again!

I said my good byes and started to walk the short distance toward where my car was parked. I stopped to turn and wave, but when I did, none of my friends were insight any more. The rain began to fall harder so I turned and picked up my pace.

I was suddenly aware of how quiet it was, most evenings you would see people milling about, but not tonight, it was eerily quiet. As I approached the entrance to the car park I fished around in my bag for my keys, why were they always in the furthest hard to reach corner of my bag?  Maybe I should get a smaller bag that would make situations like this easier.

“Ah huh.” I spoke with a triumphant tone.

“Found them?” a voice spoke from behind me.

I was so startled I dropped my keys on the tarmac. A cold fear spread across my body and I quickly bent down panicked to pick them up. Had I just imagined someone’s voice? I was too scared to look around, I just wanted to be sat in the safety of my car.

This is exactly why you shouldn’t drive home alone after a horror movie, you get so jumpy that your mind plays tricks with you.

As I reached to grab the keys with my now shaking hands all went silent and black...

My body felt like it was being pushed towards Gavin, my teeth chattered impatiently and my eyes were fierce. A growl started to rumble in my throat, it was truly terrifying, this was the first time I’d felt like. . . .like. . .hurting someone. My feet edged towards him without my permission. I must have looked like a mad woman.

My eyes were fixed on Gavin only, I couldn’t see or hear any one else.

    My focus was all him...

I was suddenly terrified at his familiarity, the night of the attack flashed before my eyes, only with more detail. I could feel the pain in my head, but instead of the blackness after that, I could see beyond. I felt the pain when he plunged his teeth into my neck. I felt the poisoned saliva invading my blood, trickling to every part of my body.  I could hear my erratic heart beat desperately trying to flicker back to its usual rhythm. I remembered gasping for air and the sound of my piercing screams as I lay dying.

Then a voice, Alec’s voice, “Its ok, I’ve got you.” he whispered.

I felt him lift me into his arms, his cold hand stroking my terrified face.

    “You’ll be alright I promise.”

I hadn’t blacked out like I thought; I’d just blocked the memory of that night out until now. Why was I suddenly remembering it all? Every detail, even the fact that Alec had waited for my screams to pass before taking me home. The pain was indescribable, being hit by a bus would have been a walk in the park compared to what I felt. My veins strained out of my body and I rithed around in agony. I remember begging for death to relieve me...

My vision was blurred as I ran. I knew I would arrive home before Alec and his family caught up with me, Of course they would follow; maybe even realize what I had worked out as well. They were incredibly fast but I was faster. The fear I felt had disappeared, I didn’t care about myself anymore. instead I was frantic for someone else. Darious had taken enough from me he wasn’t getting my dad, I wouldn’t let him.

“Please don’t be too late.” I coughed. The only plan I had was to get home as quickly as possible. I prayed I was wrong as I burst through my front door, screaming, “Dad...dad where are you?”

“In here” A familiar voice that wasn’t my fathers spoke.

Darious was stood in my kitchen as if he thought he had every right to be there. The anger swelled inside me like a pan of hot water about to boil over.

“Where’s my dad? I hissed, venom collecting in my throat.

    “Your dad’s fine Becca.”

“Where is he?” I repeated. I was so mad that my whole body vibrated with anger.

“He’s a long way away; you know how fast vampires can run.”

I was sick of him dancing around my question. Maybe action really does speak louder than words.

I couldn’t control it, my temper burned and I lunged at him with the full force of my body, my fist hit his face with a loud crack. I felt my body being rebounded back across the table and I ended up in a heap on the floor. I scrambled to my feet. My shoulder hurt but I didn’t care I knew it would heal quickly. I looked across to see what injury I’d inflicted on Darious, but was horrified to see he hadn’t moved. I hadn’t even managed to push him off balance let alone injure him...
