Tales of Montague Bear:

A Cold Winter’s Bear

by

Elaine Smith

It was a cold winters day and snow floated down from a white frosty sky and a blanket of white covered roof tops so high.

A bear and his boy were wrapped up snuggled and warm playing out in the snow on this cold winter's morn.

A little red robin sat in a tree sprinkled with snow
watching with interest as they play down below.

They were building a snowman with a long carrot nose and dressed him in an old hat and scarf to keep him warm in the snow.

Then the boy sniffed a smell that he knew well and true
Was the smell of hot chocolate his mums special brew.
Mum’s steaming hot chocolate is best on a cold winters day
She tops it with cream and brings it out on a tray.

Then their belly's are warm and they are ready for more fun
and a snowball is thrown by Alex's mum.

They hide behind trees and gather snow from the floor
to make the biggest snowball that you've ever seen before.

They have gloves on to protect their hands from the ice
or their fingers might turn into icicles which is not very nice.

Now it’s time for dinner the boy is told so he picks up his bear and comes in from the cold.

Alex can’t wait to play out again another day,
He hopes the winter weather is here to stay.

And what about Monatague? He's started to sneeze, I think he's just happy his paws didn't freeze.
